The student will learn basic concepts about DNA, RNA and proteins, which make the basis of understanding sequence and structural information. With special emphasis on nature of hereditary material, genetic material and its organization in viruses, prokaryotes and eukaryotes, chemistry of DNA, RNA and protein, DNA replication, recombination, mutations and repair, transcription, regulatory elements, initiation, elongation and termination, RNA processing, splicing and editing, translation and post- translational modifications, control of gene expression in prokaryotes and eukaryotes.
