The Department of Computer Engineering
at Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology
is the largest department in the University and
currently has almost 1700 undergraduate students
and more than 30 graduate students. The department
is also the largest Computer Department of any
university, private or public, in the country.
The department is contributing significantly and
measurably to the national information technology
education programme. The BS Computer Engineering
curriculum is focused on Software, Engineering,
Business Applications of Computers, Computer Networking
and Computer Architecture and Hardware. The Department
has qualified and dedicated faculty and staff
members and offers programmes of international
standard. The department maintains the most well
equipped and biggest computing facilities in the
country and students have access to a large array
of equipment, software and services. Graduates
of the department are hired by leading companies
of the world such as Microsoft, Cisco Systems,
General Electric, Alcatel, Siemens, ABB and Philips,
to name only a few. In addition, the local software
and networking industry prize the graduates of
the department as valuable human resource assets.
Students of the department regularly win major
national software competitions. As a result, the
BS degree programme of the department is already
recognized as one of the best undergraduate degree

towards producing high quality computer engineers
at the undergraduate level that can take up challenging

networking and software engineering.

the Computer Networks Laboratory and the Software

The MS in Computer Engineering
with Specialization in Computer Networking
programme is being offered by the Department
of Computer Engineering at Sir Syed University
of Engineering & Technology. The programme
consists of 24 credit hours of course work
followed by 6 credit hours of thesis. The
first three semesters cover the course work
and the last semester is devoted to the
completion of thesis. |
Students enrolled in the MS programme
in Computer Engineering with specialization in
Computer Networking may take up to 9 credit hours
of postgraduates courses from other MS programme
disciplines subject to approval of individual
courses as being acceptable by the department
towards their MS degree.

in Software Engineering |
The MS in Computer Engineering
with Specialization in Software Engineering
programme is being offered by the Computer
Engineering Department at Sir Syed University
of Engineering & Technology. The programme
prepares its graduates for advanced level
careers in software design, development
and project management with a strong emphasis
on software engineering and system design
methodologies. The programme consists of
24 credit hours of course work and 6 credit
hours of thesis. The programme has been
designed to produce high quality software
engineering expertise to boost the quality
and level of software exports from Pakistan.
The programme maintains close collaboration
with the local software industry and the
curriculum has been shaped with the help
of local industry, insuring that courses
are relevant to the workplace and that projects
are tailored to the professional needs of
our students.

The MS programme with specialization in Software
Engineering at Sir Syed University of Engineering
& Technology is designed for working professionals.
All classes are offered in the evenings. The programme
build on the computing experience of its students
by providing course work on a diversity of software
engineering and computer science topics, with
an emphasis on teamwork and discipline approach
to problem solving. The programme consists of
a balanced core curriculum of technical and managerial
courses, and a variety of elective streams to
address areas of personal interest. Our faculty
has extensive industrial experience as well as
strong academic credentials.
