| 1. Existing AMOUBA Premises and Proposed Construction of Sir Syed Towers: |
The present premises of our Association were acquired through the efforts of the Senior Aligarians. Being a precious peace of land, the builders mafia had an eye on it. Eventually they succeeded in getting a requisition order issued by the Deputy Commissioner. It was served on one Saturday evening, so that the Association could not get a stay-order from the courts, being closed on Sunday. The Plan was take over the possession of the Land on Monday morning. However , this evil design was foiled by the President (Engr. Z. A. Nizami) of the Association, who got a stay-order issued by the Judge on Sunday at his house, through his personal contact and influence. His next achievement was to get the requisition order withdrawn by the Governor of Sindh inspite of persistent efforts of the Builders Mafia. To foil their further design, the Association has decided to construct a building named SIR SYED TOWER for the advancement of the aims and objectives of the Association. The president and the Honorary General Secretary (Engr. Muhammad Zakir Ali Khan) are working day and night to get all the legal and bureaucratic impediments removed for early launching of the project. The Plan is almost ready. Various options for funding the project are under consideration of the experts. The President is utilizing his experience and personal influence to get all the impediments removed for the early start of its construction. |

| 8. Disaster Management Plan |
| |
| Pakistan is among the nation whose coastal regions are vulnerable to many natural disaster. SSUET, in the national interest and in the interest of public service had taken upon itself the responsiblity of providing assistance and help to the people of coastal area in general, and citizens of Karachi in particular, from natural disasters if and when they are affected by such hazards. |
| |
The most significant result is the existance of a very active seismic region in Murray Ridge area, 100-200 Kms southwest of Karachi in North Arabian Sea, where earthquakes frequency and intensity is on the increase. It can be real threat for Karachi if a major earthquake generation Tsunami occurs in the region. Without a Warning System and proper "awareness" and "remedial measures" for the inhabitants, the loss of life along the coastal region of Karachi and adjacent islands may run into millions. As urgent need was therefore felt to initiate action for the development and installation of a warning system along Karachi Coastal Belt. |
| |
SSUET therefore, arranged a Seminar on September 15, 2005 on "Disaster Preparedness and Development of a Warning System for Coastal Region of Pakistan" wherein experts in the field presented theory papers. The brief of these papers alongwith necessary recommendation were sent to all concerned agencies in general and the Government in particular in understanding the importance and necessity for installation of Disaster Warning Syestem along Coatal Area of the Country. |
